claritycomic.com is live!

Yes, I now have a functioning Website for A Moment of Clarity! I decided not to go with my immensely over-engineered weblog software cosblog and so I wrote something lean and mean…and I’m sure bits of what I learned here will transfer over to cosblog, because it so desperately needs it. :( Enough nerd talk…let’s talk COMICS. As I post this, I’m about to start inking issue 5, which will be a 24 page issue about Johnny’s return to school. Once I’ve finished inking that, I’ll get copies run off at Staples, who has good prices for printing off the comics, and I’ll get them up for sale on the site. Before that, though, I’ll be heading up with a few friends to the MoCCA Art Festival 2005 in NYC. It’ll be my first time at that show, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Issue 5 is done!

I finally finished it - the 24 page epic that is Issue 5 of A Moment of Clarity! The feedback I’ve gotten so far on this issue has been fantastic, and I hope you’ll check it out.Now I get to put together the big five-issue collection. Stay tuned…

Better late than never

Two weeks later, and I finally post an entry on coswellproductions.org about the MoCCA Art Festival. Check it out.

The quest for the mini-collection begins!

Check out the cover for the upcoming mini-collection of issues 1 through 5 of A Moment of Clarity. I’ll be spending the next two days getting the back cover and interior pages ready to be sent to the printer (and spending that time while the pages are printing by teaching myself Ruby on Rails).

Issue 6 is complete, and some freebies!

I just posted a short story about Johnny’s brother Scottie that I had drawn a while back. I was going to ink it properly, but then thought, “Eh? Why spend an hour on a short little story inking it, when it’ll take just a minute or two in The GIMP to get it to look almost as nice?”Besides, I’d rather save my inking time for what really counts…the next book! Issue 6 is complete, and once I get my new laser printer up and running, I’ll run off plenty of copies for SPX. In a week or two, I’ll be making a big post about all of the big SPX plans, once I get them finalized on paper! Stay tuned…

Sample Convention Sketches

I’ve been practicing drawing very quickly for convention sketch work. Take a look at some of the quickie sketches I’ve done.

Issue 6 available!

Issue 6 of A Moment of Clarity is now available in the store. Check it out!

Read all of Issue 1 online for FREE!

Wow! What a deal! In preparation for Small Press Expo, you get to read all of Issue 1 of A Moment of Clarity for free in the Freebies section! Once you’ve read it, be sure to send the link to a friend or two, and let me know what you thought of the story.

The first mini-collection has arrived!!!

After a bit of an exciting trip, the first A Moment of Clarity mini-collection has arrived at my doorstep! It’s an absolutely gorgeous 84 page book with a full color cover, and you can pick it up for a cool $8. I want to give a shout out to my printer, Acredale Media, for doing such a great job on the books. Now it’s on to building signage and displays, buying a tablecloth, and taking care of all of those other little odds-and-ends that I think I’ll need for this first convention…

We’re in a store!

High Grounds Espresso and Books in Baltimore is now carrying the mini-collection of A Moment of Clarity. Go there, get an excellent cup of coffee, and laugh your butt off at the adventures of Johnny and his friends!

The home stretch…

All right, I finally have all the details for SPX, so here they are:

  • I’m at table V-64A, with Mark McMurray.
  • I will have minicomics of issues 1 through 7 available for sale or trade. I will have LOTS of issue 7, ’cause it came out so good.
  • If you buy a copy of Mini-Collection 1 for $8, you’ll get a copy of issue 6 for free (while supplies last!)
  • You’ll be able to get something for free if you stop by. You’ll have to visit to find out what that free thing could be.
  • If you bring me something caffeinated from the cool coffee shop downstairs, you will become my best friend.

I still need to stop at the bank and pick up a huge wad of $1 bills. Sweet!

SPX Pictures and a Tutorial

I’ve posted pictures and comics from SPX on Coswell Productions, and I’ve also created a tutorial for working with two popular Open Source graphics tools to create digest-sized minicomics. Take a look and let me know what think.

More comics and stuff, this a-way...
