I guess that’s a fair trade…risking life and limb (and bad marks on a permanent record) for a purple gumball. How thoughtful of Matt…
Right now I’m working on redesigning the cover for Volume 1. This has meant making lots of rough thumbnails, arranging bits around in Inkscape, and agonizing over which iteration of the covers I like best…
Well, actually, I don’t really agonize over that last bit anymore. I use a couple of Web-based tools to force myself to decide which versions of things I like the best, helping me prioritize my decisions. The Prioritizer from CNN Money, and the Idea Sandbox Prioritizer are the two that I use on a semi-regular basis for helping me make all sorts of decisions. Give’em a spin!

Ooh boy! It is definitely an improvement. A couple suggestions:
- I would suggest adding a “First” and “Most Recent” links along with “Previous” and “Next,” below the strip of the day.
- From a design standpoint, placing the nav stuff to the left of the comic is a bit distracting. There’s lots of text! I think it would work better on the right, like you have on your blog - the reader will look to the comic first, and then move on to the nav stuff. This is also consistent with other webcomics I read…most of them either place the nav/blog stuff below the comic or to the right.
- I think a little more color would be nice…if not the background of the page, maybe some sort of accent on the nav box.
Apart from that, very nice! It’s good that one can read the individual strips one at a time now.
